SIPEF is a Belgian agribusiness group committed to the production of high-quality, sustainable, and traceable tropical agricultural commodities. In Papua New Guinea, this includes palm oil
We combine operational excellence with deep respect for the ecosystems, landscapes, and communities in which we work. From world-class research and development and industry-leading certifications, to regenerative practices, nature-based innovations, and meaningful smallholder partnerships, every decision we make is guided by care for people and the planet.
Managing our estates and mills
Our operations in Papua New Guinea are managed by our subsidiary, Hargy Oil Palms Limited (HOPL).
Hargy Oil Palms manages six oil palm estates as well as 3 640 certified smallholders, with each estate and its surrounding smallholders forming a dedicated supply base for HOPL’s three mills. Total planted areas comprise 25 936 hectares of mature plantings and 2 415 hectares of immature palms.
HOPL is the second largest producer of sustainable palm oil in Papua New Guinea.
Working with smallholders
SIPEF collaborates with 3 640 independent, associated smallholders within West New Britain Province. These smallholders supply around 39% of the fresh fruit bunches (FFB) processed in HOPL’s three mills.
